HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University football program will participate in the Southland Conference Football Opening Drive Media Day, while SLU Athletics officially kicks off the 2026-27 year with the One Roar, One Stop event during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
Head coach Frank Scelfo, quarterback Kyle Lowe and defensive lineman Peyton Anderson will represent Lion Football at the annual SLC Football Opening Drive presented by Big Game USA Tuesday at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. The event will be streamed on ESPN+ with Southeastern's segment scheduled to air at 10:30 a.m. Coach Scelfo will participate in a Coaches' roundtable discussion with coaches from league rivals Nicholls, Northwestern State, East Texas A&M and UTRGV at 9:10 a.m. and the Lions' press conference will air at 9:45 a.m.
 
The Lion Athletics Association will host the One Stop, One Roar event Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Gnarly Barley Brewing in Hammond. The preseason kickoff event will feature appearances from Southeastern head coaches and athletics staff members, as well as the cheerleaders, Lionettes, the Spirit of the Southland Marching Band and Roomie the Lion.
 
Admission is $10, but free for 2026-27 LAA members or those with a valid Southeastern ID. Dinner and refreshments will be available. Scelfo, head baseball coach Bobby Barbier, head men's basketball coach David Kiefer, head women's basketball coach Jeff Dow and new head softball coach Trent Partridge are scheduled to speak and KSLU 90.9 The Lion will host a live remote from Gnarly Barley from 5-6 p.m.
