SLU Earns Three Medals at Southland Outdoor Championships Saturday

Southeastern also broke two program records on the final day of the meet

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's and women's track & field teams concluded the Southland Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Homer Bryce Stadium Saturday.

The Lions closed out the SLC Outdoor Championships with three medals, two of which came on the meet's final day. After Josh-Ty Brown won silver in the shot put Friday, Favour claimed gold and silver Saturday. The women's 4x400-meter relay team got bronze, too. The Lions also broke two program records Saturday. The Southeastern women ended the meet in ninth out of 12 teams. The SLU men finished 10th out of 12 programs.

In the women's 200-meter dash, Onyah Favour brought home gold. With a time of 23.19, Favour earned a personal best in the event. The sprinter beat out her previous career-best mark of 23.26 seconds. Favour's 200-meter dash gold is the first 200-meter medal of her outdoor career.

Favour earned silver in the 400-meter dash Saturday. Favour's 51.25-second performance marks the best time in program history, breaking her own program record of 51.93 set at the NCAA East First Round in 2025. The junior's time of 51.25 logs as the 10th-best time in the NCAA East Region before the conclusion of the weekend, helping to solidify her place in the NCAA First Round. Favour finished just 0.05 seconds behind first place.

The women's 4x400-meter relay team received bronze with a third-place finish Saturday. Breanna Becerra, Miriam Kauer, Zoe Wilson, and Favour clocked 3:39.17 in the relay, breaking a program record. The same relay team set the previous record at the LSU Alumni Gold meet last month.

In the finals of the 400-meter dash, Daniel Atinaya placed seventh with a personal-best 46.84, surpassing his previous career-best mark from yesterday's 400-meter dash trials.

Any Lions with marks within the top-48 of the NCAA East Region will make their way to the NCAA East First Round in Lexington, Ky. The postseason meet is set to begin Wednesday, May 27. It will be televised on ESPN+.
