HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team will travel to Baton Rouge, La. to compete in the Battle on the Bayou at the LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium.
Southeastern (12-10, 5-2 SLC) will return to the sand for a two-day tournament against an in-state opponent and conference foes after securing a 5-0 victory against William Carey. The Sandy Lions delivered their first shutout of the season against the Crusaders, extending their six-match winning streak.
SLU will open serve against conference rival Nicholls (8-16, 0-6 SLC) Friday at 10:30 a.m. before facing New Orleans (9-11, 3-3 SLC) at 4:45 p.m. to close out day one of the tournament. The Colonels will seek to snap its two-game losing streak after falling 3-2 against Loyola New Orleans. New Orleans is looking to extend its momentum with a five-match winning streak after gaining a 5-0 win over Mobile.
The Sandy Lions will return Saturday afternoon for two highly anticipated matches against conference foe Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (17-8, 6-0 SLC) at 1 p.m. before facing No. 12 LSU (13-13) at 4:45 p.m. to end the weekend. The Islanders currently lead the Southland Conference, holding the No.1 spot in the upcoming 2026 Southland Conference Beach Volleyball Tournament while maintaining its 12-match winning streak. The Tigers will seek to bounce back after suffering four consecutive losses against top nationally ranked opponents.
All matches will be hosted at the White Sands Volleyball Courts and will be streamed on the B1G+ Network. Concluding the Battle on the Bayou, Southeastern will remain on the road traveling to Florence, Alabama to face Central Arkansas, Missouri State and North Alabama Thursday, April 16-17.
