Lions Close Regular Season Road Schedule at Nicholls

SLU (39-10, 20-1 SLC) on verge of clinching first Southland regular season title in program history

HAMMOND, La. – The two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team will close out the road portion of its regular season schedule this weekend, traveling to Nicholls for a three-game league series.

The series between SLU (39-10, 20-1 SLC) and the host Colonels (26-18, 14-7 SLC) will open with a 4 p.m. doubleheader Friday and conclude Saturday at noon. The series will be televised on ESPN+.

Despite having its Southland Conference-record 25-game winning streak snapped in a 4-3 loss to SFA Wednesday, Southeastern enters the series needing one win to clinch a share of and two wins to clinch the outright first SLC regular season championship in program history.

The Lions carry a .338 team batting average into the final road series of 2026, as Shelby Morris leads the team with a .419 batting average, 51 runs scored and 70 hits, while sharing team-high honors with Chloe Magee with 19 stolen bases. Brilee Ford (.387), Cydnee Schneider (.360), Ka'Lyn Watson (.354) and Colleen Kulivan (.349) are the other top hitters for average for SLU.

Maria Detillier (8 HR, 45 RBI), Ford (5 HR, 36 RBI) and Watson (5 HR, 23 RBI) are the top power hitters for Southeastern. Morris leads the league with six triples, while Schneider paces the SLC with 16 doubles.

Eight different pitchers have seen action in the circle for a Southeastern pitching staff that has a school-record 18 shutouts and a 1.61 team earned run average. Cera Blanchard (12-1, 1.18 ERA, 3 saves), Hallie Burns (15-4, 1.42 ERA, 2 saves), Haley Crawford (4-1, 1.24 ERA, 2 saves) and Macie LaRue (5-2, 2.38 ERA, 1 save) are the primary arms for the Lions.

SLU will be facing a Nicholls lineup that enters the series with a .297 team batting average. Claire Sicso paces the Colonels with a .384 batting average. Molly Yoo (15-8, 2.78 ERA, 1 save), Averi Paden (5-3, 3.54 ERA, 1 save) and Sierra Ouellette (4-5, 2.66 ERA) have split the majority of the pitching duties for Nicholls, which has a 3.24 staff ERA.

Following the series, SLU will host Alcorn State Tuesday at 5 p.m. for the final nonconference regular season contest of 2026. Tuesday's game will be sponsored by La Capitol Federal Credit Union and the first 100 fans will receive a free gift from LaCap FCU. Tuesday's contest will be shown on ESPN+.
