Southeastern Completes SLC Series Sweep of Lions with 10-1 Run-Rule WIn

SLU (18-9, 3-0 SLC) returns home to host USM Wednesday

COMMERCE, Texas – The two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team completed a series sweep of league foe East Texas A&M with a 10-1 victory in five innings Saturday afternoon at the John Cain Family Softball Stadium.

Southeastern (18-9, 3-0 SLC) extended its win streak to four games with Saturday's run-rule win. The host Lions fell to 5-21 overall and 0-3 in SLC action.

SLU collected double-digit hits for the fourth straight game, as Shelby Morris, Chloe Magee and Colleen Kulivan finished with two hits apiece to lead a 10-hit attack. Southeastern also drew a season-high 12 walks, as Maria Detillier and Cydnee Schneider each drew three free passes.

Detillier also scored a team-high three runs in Saturday's win. Blair Walsh, Brileey Ford and Kailey Dixon led the Lady Lions with two RBI each.

In the circle, Haley Crawford (2-1) allowed one hit and fanned six in four scoreless innings to earn the victory.

Detillier, Schneider, Ka'Lyn Watson and Brilee Ford drew consecutive walks to force in a run in the top of the first inning. A Dixon two-run single stretched the lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning, before Ford singled home a run in the fourth to pad the advantage to 4-0.

Southeastern broke the game wide open with a six-run fifth inning, as Morris, Magee and Walsh all drove in runs to help the Lady Lions extend their margin to 10-0. East Texas A&M scratched out a run in the bottom of the fifth inning against SLU reliever Celia Lamkin, but would get no closer, as Lamkin retired KK Cosek to enforce the mercy rule.

Southeastern will return home for the first time in a month Wednesday, hosting Southern Miss at 5 p.m. at North Oak Park. The game, which will be sponsored by Tangi Tourism and televised on ESPN+, will feature the Pack the Park promotion. Students will receive free t-shirts by presenting their student ID. It's also Greek Night and fans can bring donations to the Southeastern Student Food Pantry.
