SLU Finishes 2-0 in Day Two of Pontchartrain Beach Bash

Southeastern claims 3-2 win over conference foe McNeese before gaining a 4-1 victory over the College of Charleston to close out the final day of the Pontchartrain Beach Bash

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team claimed its first 2-0 sweep of the season over conference rival McNeese and the College of Charleston Saturday afternoon at Privateer Beach.

Southeastern (2-7, 1-1 SLC) secured its first win of the 2026 season with a solid 3-2 victory over conference rival McNeese (9-2, 0-1 SLC). The Lady Lions opened serve on day two of the Pontchartrain Beach Bash and claimed its first Southland Conference win against the Cowgirls. Mia Sauers and Gabriella Hrubanova battled on Court one to earn a three set victory to continue the momentum for the green and gold, 21-15, 19-12, 15-10.

McNeese rallied to gain wins on Court 2 and Court 5, but SLU refused to back down as Mia McKinney and Emmaligh Vincent bounced back to claim a convincing 21-13, 21-14  victory. Vincent sealed the deal for Pair 3 with a big block to shut down McNeese late in the match.

Makayla Hicks and Cadie Kusy made huge strides for the Lady Lions this weekend, finishing 3-0 this weekend. The dynamic duo closed out the weekend undefeated as they claimed a tough 21-16, 21-19 win over the Cowgirls. Southeastern snapped McNeese's seven-match winning streak to start the day on a good note.

SLU returned to the sand later in the afternoon with new found momentum. The Lady Lions tied 1-1 with the College of Charleston before yet another weather delay threatened to postpone the match. Southeastern fought to gain the advantage on all three remaining courts as the Cougars forfeited the match to credit the green and gold its second straight victory of the day, 4-1.

Southeastern will suit up and return to the sand Friday, March 13-14 to compete in the Tulane Bayou Beach Duals in New Orleans, La.
