HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team will return to the sand in Lake Charles, La. to compete in the Sandy Polk Invitational at South Beach, hosted by McNeese.
Southeastern (9-10, 5-2 SLC) will compete in the first annual Sandy Polk Invitational after a historic weekend in the sand to close out the Southland Conference Mid-Season Event last weekend. The Sandy Lions finished 4-1 to secure its best mid-season conference record in program history while also gaining the program's first win over HCU, 3-2. Senior Mia McKinney ended the league event with 46 career wins, the most in program history.
The Sandy Lions will start the day against Tarleton State (5-11) at 12 p.m. The Texans will look to bounce back after suffering a 3-2 loss against UTEP in the Arizona Invitational.
SLU will close out the day against conference rival McNeese (15-4, 4-2 SLC) at 2 p.m. Southeastern will face the Cowgirls for the second time this season after claiming a 3-2 victory in the Pontchartrain Beach Bash. The green and gold will seek to compound its three-match winning streak while on the road.
Concluding the Sandy Polk Invitational, Southeastern will face William Carey Wednesday, April 1 at 3 p.m. as the Crusaders visit Hammond, America. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Sandy Lions as five seniors will be honored for Senior Day.
