Lady Lions Claim Home Victory Over Spring Hill

Southeastern secures 4-1 victory against Spring Hill, to snap the visitors' five-match winning streak, in its home opener

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team secured a 4-1 victory over Spring Hill in home opener Tuesday afternoon at the Southeastern Beach Volleyball Complex.

SLU (6-9, 2-1 SLC) gained a big win against Spring Hill (6-3), snapping the visitors' five-match winning streak, to claim its first home win of the 2026 season. Southeastern fought to obtain momentum early in the match as Southland Conference Pair of the Week Makayla Hicks and Cadie Kusy tallied a 21-17, 21-11 victory on court two. The duo dominated as pair four for the green and gold, extending their five-match winning streak.

The Lady Lions continued to battle as Mia Sauers and Gabriella Hrubanova recorded a commanding 21-12, 21-9 win. Southeastern remained in control throughout the majority of the match as pair five Genevieve Schubert and Elizabeth Hardouin secured a tough 21-18, 21-16 win, but Spring Hill rallied to claim a two-set victory on court three to avoid the shutout. Pair three Mia McKinney and Maggie Paiva also stepped up for SLU to widen its lead with a 21-13, 23-21 win over the Badgers.

Southeastern will return on the road to compete in the Southland Conference Mid-Year Invitational Saturday, March 21-22 in Youngsville, La. The Lady Lions will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday at 9 a.m. before closing out the day against HCU at 1 p.m. Southeastern will take on Stephen F. Austin Sunday at 9 a.m. before its rematch against conference foe Nicholls at 1 p.m.
