HAMMOND, La. – The two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team continues its eight-game home stand with a 5 p.m. contest versus Jackson State Tuesday evening at North Oak Park.
The game between Southeastern (22-9) and visiting JSU (11-11) will be Superhero Night, as fans are encouraged to wear their favorite super hero gear. It will also be Faculty and Staff night at North Oak Park, as all Southeastern faculty and staff will receive free admission by presenting their SLU ID at the front entrance. Fans can also bring non-perishable food items to Tuesday's game to donate as part of the Southeastern Food Pantry drive.
Southeastern enters Tuesday's game on an eight-game winning streak. The Lady Lions have recorded double-digit hits in all eight games of the streak and have won their last five games by mercy rule.
SLU's latest hot streak at the plate has raised the team's batting average to .334.
Shelby Morris leads the team with a .400 batting average, followed in the team's top five by
Cydnee Schneider (.372),
Colleen Kulivan (.371),
Chloe Magee (.344) and
Kailey Dixon (.333). Morris also tops the roster with 30 runs scored and 42 hits, while Magee has a team-high 16 walks and 14 stolen bases.
Maria Detillier is the top power threat for SLU with six home runs and 26 RBI, while
Brilee Ford (4 HR, 19 RBI) is second on the team in both categories. Schneider paces the squad with 10 doubles, while Morris has a team-high three triples.
With 10 shutouts to its credit, the Southeastern pitching staff enters Tuesday's game ranked eighth in Division I with a 2.03 team ERA.

Haley Crawford (2-1, 1.06 ERA, 2 saves) and
Macie LaRue (3-2, 2.86 ERA, 1 save) have handled the majority of the work in the circle, while

Katherine Thiessen (2-1, 1.35 ERA),
Bre Clark (1-0, 0.84 ERA) and
Celia Lamkin (0-0, 7.00 ERA) have also contributed.
Jackson State comes to Hammond with a .337 team batting average behind the duo of Jace Jackson (.467) and Ka'Liyah Gopson (.464). Eight different Tiger pitchers have combined for a 5.42 team ERA with Jorgina Gant (4-2, 3.29 ERA) and Brooklyn Morris (3-5, 6.07 ERA) sharing the majority of the innings in the circle.
Following Tuesday's game, Southeastern will welcome Northwestern State to town for the Cypress Trophy series. The series opens with a 4 p.m. doubleheader Friday on Youth Sports Night, while the series wraps Saturday at noon. All three games will be televised on ESPN+.
