HAMMOND, La. – After helping the two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team to a 4-0 week, SLU senior third baseman Maria Detillier was named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week in an announcement from the league office Monday.
 
The Gramercy, Louisiana native was honored for the first time this spring and the third time in her career.
 
Detillier hit .727 for the week, which saw SLU earn an 11-3 victory over Southern Miss and then sweep a three-game SLC series with HCU. In Friday's 19-0 win over the Huskies, she was 4-for-4 and became the first Lady Lion to hit for the cycle since Katie Duhe in 2010. In Friday's 8-0 series-opening win, Detillier also homered.
 
After a slow start in the opening month offensively, Detillier has been red hot in the month of March. The school's career leader in RBI, total bases and sacrifice flies has raised her batting average to .315 to go with a team-high six home runs and 26 RBI.
 
Southeastern (22-9) returns home to host Jackson State (11-11) Tuesday at 5 p.m. at North Oak Park. Tuesday will be Superhero Night, as fans are encouraged to wear their favorite super hero gear. It will also be Faculty and Staff night at North Oak Park, as all Southeastern faculty and staff will receive free admission by presenting their SLU ID at the front entrance. Fans can also bring non-perishable food items to Tuesday's game to donate as part of the Southeastern Food Pantry drive.
