Southeastern Hosts Spring Hill in Home Opener

SLU hosts Spring Hill Tuesday at 1 p.m. in its first home opener of the season

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team will host its first home match of the season against Spring Hill Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Southeastern Beach Volleyball Complex, located in North Oaks Park.

SLU (5-9, 2-1 SLC) will open the week at home as Spring Hill (6-2) visits Hammond, America. Returning from a solid weekend on the road in the Tulane Bayou Beach Duals, Southeastern finished 3-2 in the two-day tournament as it claimed a 3-2 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville after falling 3-2 against UTEP to close out day one. The Lady Lions opened the final day of the tournament with a 4-1 win over Central Arkansas before suffering a 4-1 loss against Tulane.

Southeastern regrouped to record a 4-1 victory over conference rival Nicholls to end the day. Fifth-year senior Makayla Hicks and freshman Cadie Kusy stepped up for the green and gold with a dominant 4-1 record to close out the weekend.

Spring Hill will seek to compound its five-match winning streak on the road after securing its fourth straight 5-0 victory. The Badgers claimed a dominant shutout victory over Mobile on the road with its last coming against No. 12 LSU in the Tulane Invitational.

Concluding Tuesday's match, SLU will return on the road to compete in the Southland Conference Mid-Year Invitational Saturday, March 21-22 in Youngsville, La. The Lady Lions will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Saturday at 9 a.m. before closing out the day against HCU at 1 p.m. Southeastern will take on Stephen F. Austin Sunday at 9 a.m. before its rematch against conference foe Nicholls at 1 p.m.
