HAMMOND, La. – The reigning Southland Conference regular season champion Southeastern Louisiana University baseball team and golf team will open their respective seasons, while the basketball, softball, track, tennis and beach volleyball teams will also be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The Southeastern baseball team will play its first eight games of the season at home, starting this weekend with a three-game series versus Kent State at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. The series opens Friday at 6 p.m., continues Saturday at 2 p.m. and concludes Sunday at 1 p.m.
Each Friday at the Pat during the season will features fans 12 and under receiving the opportunity to stand with their favorite Lion during the national anthem. Each Saturday will feature Bingo at the Ballpark, while every Sunday will be Military Appreciation Day.
The SLU men's golf team opens the spring portion of its 2025-26 season this week. The Lions will be in Montgomery, Texas Monday and Tuesday to compete in the Bentwater Intercollegiate.
The Lion men's basketball team (7-17, 4-11 SLC) opens the week in the friendly confines of the University Center, hosting UIW at 6 p.m. on Ballin' 4 Options Night. Southeastern then hits the road for a 3:30 p.m. contest at Northwestern State Saturday.
The Southeastern women's basketball team (4-18, 3-12 SLC) carries a two-game winning streak onto the road this week. SLU opens the week with a 6:30 p.m. contest Thursday at East Texas A&M before heading to Natchitoches to face Northwestern State Saturday at 1 p.m.
Fresh off four straight wins, including a 4-2 win over No. 5 Oregon, the two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Lady Lion softball team (4-2) opens its home schedule with a 5 p.m. contest Wednesday versus Louisiana Tech at North Oak Park. The game, sponsored by First Guaranty Bank, will feature the signage for the 2025 Southland Conference Tournament championship and NCAA Baton Rouge Regional final appearance being unveiled prior to first pitch.
Southeastern then heads to Youngsville, Louisiana to compete in the Mardi Gras Mambo. The tournament opens Friday with SLU facing Georgia State at 2 p.m. and New Mexico at 4 p.m. The Lady Lions face SIU Edwardsville at 3 p.m. and St. Thomas at 5 p.m. Saturday. Sunday will see Southeastern close out the tournament Sunday at 10 a.m. versus Eastern Illinois.
The SLU track and field teams will continue their indoor campaign this week. The Lions and Lady Lions will be in Fayetteville, Ark. Friday and Saturday for the Tyson Invitational.
The Southeastern tennis team (3-0) will look to continue its undefeated start to the spring this week. SLU hosts Alcorn State (2 p.m.) and Copiah-Lincoln Community College (5 p.m.) Tuesday, before heading to face Keiser University Saturday.
Fans can get their first sneak peek at the Beach Lions under first-year head coach Angie Simpson this week. The team's Green and Gold scrimmage is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the Southeastern Beach Volleyball Complex.

All of this week's SLU baseball, men's basketball and women's basketball contests will be televised on ESPN+, as will Wednesday's softball game.
