BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's and women's track & field teams competed in the UAB Green and Gold Invite Friday at the Birmingham CrossPlex for the third meet of the indoor season.
Onyah Favour earned two gold medals in Friday's meet. The first event win was in the 60-meter dash, earning a school record of 7.39, tied for second among all student-athletes in the Southland Conference. The junior proceeded to claim first in the 200-meter dash with a school record time of 24.03, ranking fourth in the Southland Conference.
Donald Butler medaled for the first time this season with a bronze performance of 2.06 meters (6'9") in the high jump.
Josh-Ty Brown added a bronze medal to his trophy case with a 16.46-meter (54'0") performance in the shot put.
Romel Williams notched a personal-best time of 7.31 in the 60-meter dash, taking 35
th in the event. In the 60-meter hurdles,
Ian McAlpine also recorded a personal-best, taking 21
st with a time of 8.92. Earning eighth place in the 400-meter dash,
Daniel Atinaya posted a personal-best time of 48.79.
Mya Parker's 2:33.99 time in the 800-meter run earned her a personal-best, finishing the event in 45
th.
Tanner Salsman's 14th-place finish of 9:00.58 in the 3,000-meter run was a personal record time.
Bryson Thomas notched the final personal record of the day, taking 25
th in the weight throw with a toss of 12.78 meters (41'11").
Following Friday's meet, Southeastern track & field will head to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Tyson Invite, from Friday, Feb. 13 to Saturday, Feb. 14.
