HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's and women's track & field teams will travel to Birmingham, Ala., for the Southland Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships Wednesday and Thursday.
 
At the Birmingham CrossPlex, Wednesday will begin with running events at 12 p.m., while field events will start at 1 p.m. The women's shot put will start Thursday's events at 10:40 a.m. The 60-meter hurdles at 11:40 a.m. will start off track events Thursday. The championships will be televised on ESPN+.
 
Heading into the women's conference championships, Onyah Favour has top-three times in three different events among Southland student-athletes. Favour's 400-meter time of 52.91 is the best in the SLC, while her 200-meter performance of 24.03 is second in the league. The junior's 60-meter dash of 7.39 is the third-best mark among all SLC student-athletes.
 
Jordyn Taylor's triple jump of 10.77 meters (35'4") is the eighth-best mark in the Southland. Jaydan Jackson's weight throw of 16.25 meters (53'3") stands at seventh in the SLC, while Lyndsey Darensbourg's 15.84-meter toss (51'11") is 10^th.
 
On the men's side, Alden Dupree's high jump of 2.13 meters (6'11") sits as second in the Southland. Also in the high jump, Donald Butler's 2.09-meter performance (6'10") is the SLC's fifth-best mark. In the shot put, Porter Gibson and Josh-Ty Brown have the seventh and eighth-best performances in the conference at 16.53 meters (54'2") and 16.49 meters (54'), respectively.
 
Any qualifiers from the Southland Indoor Championships will travel to the NCAA Division I Indoor National Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., Saturday, Mar. 14. The Lions and Lady Lions are set to begin the outdoor track & field season Saturday, Mar. 14, when Southeastern hosts The Andy Thiel Season Opener at the Southeastern Track Complex.
