SLU Returns to Action at Gulf Coast Collegiate

Southeastern among 14-team field competing Monday and Tuesday in New Orelans

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's golf team will return to the course this week, competing in the Gulf Coast Collegiate Monday and Tuesday at the English Turn Golf and Country Club.

Southeastern will be one of 14 teams competing on the par-72, 7,078-yard course. The first 36 holes will tee off at 8 a.m. Monday. Tuesday's final round is set for 8 a.m. Live scoring, provided by host New Orleans, will be accessible via the men's golf schedule page at www.LionSports.net.

SLU will be paired with Bellarmine and Southern Indiana for the first two rounds. In addition to host UNO, the field also includes Nicholls, Belmont, Tennessee Tech, Murray State, Loyola (N.O.), Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Augusta, St. John's, Central Arkansas, Eastern Illinois and Jacksonville.

The Lions opened the spring season with a 12th-place finish two weeks ago at the Bentwater Intercollegiate. Patrick Blaum, Noah Bumgarner, Lorenzo Palmieri and David Marsh will all be in the lineup for the second straight tournament this week.

Griffin Dorr will make his spring debut this week for the Lions. He and Bumgarner, who competed as an individual, are the only members of this week's starting five that competed at last year's Gulf Coast Collegiate, which saw SLU finish sixth out of 18 teams.

This week's tournament will be the first of two in consecutive weeks for Southeastern. The Lions will travel to Sugar Land, Texas to compete in the Colin Montgomerie Invitational March 2-3.
