TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team suffered a tough 5-0 loss in a rematch against No. 8 Florida Sunday afternoon.
Southeastern (0-6) dropped its second match versus nationally ranked Florida State (6-0) to close out the opening weekend in the Florida State Unconquered Invitational. SLU returned to the sand against the Seminoles, but could not overcome as the hosts gained the early advantage.
Carley Petty and Emmaleigh Vincent refused to back down and battled on court four against Florida State, forcing three sets. The pair gained a 22-20 victory in set two, but the Seminoles regrouped to seal the shutout with a 15-10 win in set three.
The Lady Lions will return to the sand Friday, March 6 against the College of Charleston and conference rival McNeese to open the two-day Pontchartrain Beach Bash in New Orleans, La.
