Southeastern Closes Pre-Southland Slate

SLU (6-1) host Chattanooga (Saturday, 10 a.m.), travels to Dillard (Sunday, 2 p.m.)

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team will close out its pre-Southland Conference slate with a pair of nonconference matches this weekend.

SLU (6-1) opens the week at home, hosting Chattanooga (5-1) Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex. The Lions then travel to Dillard (0-2) for a 2 p.m. match Sunday in New Orleans.

Southeastern is a combined 30-6 in singles play this spring with Adriana Tirado (6-0) and Mariam Tetradze (5-0) leading the way. In doubles play, the two freshmen have teamed for a team-best 5-2 doubles mark.

Chattanooga, which plays at Southern Friday, comes to Louisiana with a 5-1 mark and a three-match winning streak. Rufaro Magarira (5-1) is the team's leader in singles wins, while Ella Mancuso and Jordan Fenton have teamed for a team-best 4-1 doubles mark to pace the Mocs.

Dillard will be looking for its first win of the season Sunday. The Bleu Devils opened the spring with losses to UNO and LSU Alexandria.

Following this week's action, SLU will open SLC play at UIW with a 1 p.m. match Feb. 28.
