SLU Continues Road Swing at UCA Tournament

Southeastern (9-3) carries five-game winning streak into Conway, Ark.

HAMMOND, La. – The two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team will return to action this week, traveling to Conway, Ark. to compete in the UCA Softball Tournament.
 
Southeastern (9-3) opens the tournament versus St. Louis (6-4) Friday at noon, before facing host Central Arkansas (6-4) at 2:30 p.m. Saturday will see the Lady Lions face Evansville (4-5) at 10 a.m. and St. Louis at 12:30 p.m.
 
Live stats for the tournament, provided by host UCA, will be accessible via the softball schedule page at www.LionSports.net. Friday's game versus Central Arkansas will be televised on ESPN+.
 
Southeastern carries a five-game winning streak into this weekend's tournament. Cydnee Schneider leads the Lady Lions with a .387 batting average, followed by Shelby Morris (.359), Shenita Tucker (.321), Ka'Lyn Watson (.310), Maria Detillier (.303) and Chloe Magee (.303).
 
Detillier, who became the school's career RBI leader last Saturday, leads the team with nine RBI, followed by Schneider's eight. Watson has a team-high two home runs, while Schneider has four doubles. Morris leads the team with 10 runs scored, while she, Tucker and Magee have a team-high six stolen bases each.
 
The Southeastern pitching staff carries a 2.00 team ERA into the weekend's action. Hallie Burns (3-0, 1.25 ERA), Haley Crawford (1-1, 1.21 ERA, 2 saves), Cera Blanchard (3-0, 1.65 ERA, 1 save), Macie LaRue (1-0, 2.86 ERA), Tyler Oubre (0-1, 6.30 ERA), Bre Clark (0-0, 0.00 ERA) and Katherine Thiessen (1-1, 6.00 ERA) have shared time in the circle.
 
St. Louis is led by the pair of Karsen Janey (.481) and Abby Ulsas (.441). Isabel Royle (3-2, 5.08 ERA), Anna Christ (2-1, 2.14 ERA, 1 save) and Riley Nelson (1-1, 4.20 ERA) have split time in the circle for the Billikens.
 
The host Bears are led offensively by Trinity Brandon and her team-high .412 batting average. Bailie Runner (3-1, 3.04 ERA) leads the UCA pitching staff.
 
Evansville's top hitters are Jess Willsey (.400) and Maliyah Wilkins (3 HR, 13 RBI). Kate Ridgway (2-0, 3.07 ERA) and Alexis Tucker (1-1, 4.52 ERA) are the top arms in the Aces'
 
Following this week's action, SLU will travel to face defending national champion Texas next Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Austin, Texas. The game with the Longhorns will be televised on SEC Network+.
