FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's track & field team was represented by
Onyah Favour at the Tyson Invitational inside the Randal Tyson Track Center Friday.
After winning Southland Conference Track Athlete of the Week, Favour made the trip to Fayetteville to take part in the University of Arkansas' Tyson Invitational Friday. The junior raced in the 400-meter dash, recording a time of 53.44 for 26
th place among 58 of the nation's best runners in the event.
Her 53.44 time would have been a school record before the junior notched a 52.91 time for a program record at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. in January. Favour's 400-meter dash of 52.91 is the best in the Southland, the eighth-best in the South-Central Region, and the 27th-best time in the nation. Favour's time of 53.44 logs as the second-best performance in the Southland Conference this season, giving her the two best times among all SLC 400-meter dash competitors.
The Asaba, Nigeria native is coming off a strong performance at the UAB Green and Gold Invite, winning both the 60-meter and 200-meter dash events, posting school records in both. Her 60-meter dash of 7.39 is the third-best in the Southland, while her 200-meter dash of 24.03 is the best in the conference.
The Southeastern men's and women's track and field teams will be back in action Friday, when the programs return to Baton Rouge, La. for the LSU Twilight Meet.
