MONTGOMERY, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's golf team closed out its opening tournament of the spring Tuesday, as the Bentwater Intercollegiate wrapped up Tuesday afternoon at the Bentwater Country Club.
 
Southeastern finished 51-over par for the tournament and were in 12^th place in the final standings. VCU and host Sam Houston State finished tied atop the team leaderboard at +5 with VCU winning in a playoff.
 
Patrick Blaum (+6) led the way for the Lions, finishing in a tie for 27^th place. Gavin Ingram (+10, T37th), David Marsh (+16, T60th), Lorenzo Palmieri (+22, 72^nd) and Noah Bumgarner (+28, T75th) also represented SLU in the opening tournament of the spring.
 
VCU's Tanner Cadieux (-7) shot a final-round 65 to win individual medalist honors by four strokes.
 
Southeastern will be back in action Feb. 23-24 at the Gulf Coast Collegiate at City Park in New Orleans.
