HAMMOND, La. – The two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team opens the 2026 season, the tennis team opens its spring schedule, the men's and women's basketball teams continue Southland Conference play and the reigning SLC regular season champion baseball team hosts Fan Fest during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The SLU softball team will open the season at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Fla. The Lady Lions open tournament play with a 6 p.m. contest Thursday versus No. 13 Clemson. Friday will see Southeastern face South Alabama at 3 p.m. and Longwood at 6 p.m.
Rutgers (2 p.m.) and Boston College (5 p.m.) await SLU Saturday. The tournament closes Sunday with the Lady Lions meeting No. 5 Oregon at 9 a.m.
The Southeastern tennis team will attempt to open the spring portion of its schedule after having last week's matches postponed by frigid temperatures. SLU opens the week with road matches at LSU Alexandria (Tuesday) and Louisiana Christian (Saturday, 2 p.m.), before hosting Southern Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
The Lion basketball team (6-16, 3-10 SLC) opens the week on the road with a 6 p.m. Southland contest Monday at Lamar. Southeastern returns home Saturday, hosting HCU at 3:30 p.m. in the University Center with the Love and Basketball promotion being held with Saturday's doubleheader.
The Southeastern women's basketball team (2-18, 1-12 SLC) hosts UIW at 6 p.m. Thursday. Thursday will also feature a White Out and the first 150 SLU students will receive a free t-shirt courtesy of Southeastern Athletics. Thursday is also Military Appreciation Night. HCU visits Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest.
Erynn Williams (Thursday) and Taylor Wilkins (Saturday) will be this week's Spotlight Players of the Game. The first 150 fans will receive a trading card featuring that day's Spotlight Player of the Game, courtesy of PRIDE.
The Southeastern Louisiana University Baseball Fan Fest at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field is set for Saturday. Following a 1 p.m. intrasquad scrimmage on Feb. 7, the Lions will sign autographs and host a kids' home run derby. Fans will also have a chance to time their base-running skills and check out their pitch speed.
Current season ticket holders will be able to pick up their printed tickets and the athletics ticket office will be on hand to sell new season ticket packages. This year, one lucky season ticket holder will be chosen to receive an autographed team jersey, an autographed centennial bat, a tour of the facility with a student-athlete of your choice and the opportunity to sit in the athletics director's seats for one game.
All season ticket holders will receive a calendar magnet and a concessions punch card with their purchase. Family Pack ticket holders will receive one free drink per game. The limit is one per customer and concession vouchers are valid only at Southeastern-run concession stands.
On the Air
All of this week's SLU men's and women's basketball contests will be televised on ESPN+. The softball team's game Sunday versus Oregon will air on MLB Network, while the remainder of the tournament's games will be streamed on Game Changer.
