HAMMOND, La. – Talented junior college products Morgan Chisolm and Kai Goodman will continue their academic and athletic endeavors as members of the Southeastern Louisiana University softball program, SLU head softball coach
Rick Fremin announced Thursday.
The addition of Chisolm and Goodman will give SLU a class of eight newcomers for the 2027 season. Last November, Fremin announced the signing of pitcher Kayla Crawford (Meadville, Pa.), outfielder Keaunna Green (Lehigh Acres, Fla.), pitcher Isabella Hardeman (Spencer, Okla.), middle infielder/outfielder Leslee Maldonado (Yorktown, Va.), pitcher/utility player Ashtyn Rogers (Waggaman, La.) and catcher/infielder Cayden Tullier (Gonzales, La.).
Chisolm is currently a sophomore at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. An All-MACCC selection as a freshman, the Madison, Miss. native hit .396 with eight doubles, five home runs and 22 RBI for the 2025 national champion Lady Wolves. Chisolm signed with Co-Lin after a standout prep career at Madison Central High School, where she was a first team all-district performer.
"Morgan is very strong and has a good presence behind the plate," Fremin commented. "She's also a big bat in the middle of the lineup for Co-Lin."
Goodman is currently a sophomore at Pearl River Community College. The New Orleans native signed with Nicholls out of John Curtis High School, but transferred to PRCC in the spring of 2025. An All-MACCC selection as a freshman, Goodman stole a single-season school record 51 bases while leading the team with a .401 batting average.
A multi-time all-state performer in high school, she heled John Curtis to three state championships. Her older siter, Cam, was a three-time All-Southland Conference outfielder for SLU from 2020-24.
"Kai adds more speed and athleticism to our roster," Fremin said. "She has the ability to play infield or outfield and we expect her to be a threat at the top of our lineup."
Chisolm and Goodman's future teammates will officially open preseason practice for the 2026 season Monday. The two-time reigning SLC Tournament champion Lady Lions open the 2026 season versus Clemson Feb. 5 at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Fla.
