BATON ROUGE, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's and women's track & field teams competed in the second meet of the indoor season Friday at the LSU Bayou Bengal meet in Carl Maddox Fieldhouse.
Porter Gibson brought home the lone medal for the Southeastern men Friday. The junior earned silver with a personal-best toss of 16.53 meters (54'2") in the shot put.
In her second meet in green and gold,
Julia Jenkins medaled in the long jump. The freshman Covington, La. native notched a bronze long jump of 5.42 meters (17'9") in Friday's meet.
Including Gibson, six SLU student-athletes recorded personal-bests in Baton Rouge.
Daniel Atinaya posted a 6.85 time in the 60-meter dash, getting 10
th place. In the 60-meter hurdles,
Ian McAlpine's 8.95 time gave him 17
th and a personal-best.
Romel Williams ran a personal-best of 1:25.54 in the 600-meter run, taking 11
th in the race.
In the men's shot put,
Micah Miller's 15.30-meter (50'2") performance was a personal-best, also placing sixth in the event. On the women's side,
Miriam Kauer placed fifth in the 600-meter run with a personal-best time of 1:36.45.
The Southeastern track & field teams will head to Birmingham, Ala., Saturday, Feb. 7, for the UAB Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex.
