ORLANDO, Fla. – The Southeastern Louisiana University athletic spirit squads are both bringing home gold medals from the 2026 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship held this weekend at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Both the cheerleaders and Lionettes dance squad earned their national championships in the Division I Gameday category.
Southeastern cheer finished with an average score of 91.6333 points in the finals, topping fellow Southland Conference institution Northwestern State (89.7 points) and Lipscomb (80.2 points). Cheer also competed in the Division I Small Coed and Division I All Girl categories.
The Lionettes scored an average of 92.35 points with their finals' routine, topping Hofstra (92.0167 points) and St. John's (90.7 points). SLU dance also competed in the Division I Hip Hop and Division I Jazz categories.
This marks the fourth consecutive year that cheer has claimed gold and the fifth time in the last six years. Combined, the spirit squads have earned eight national titles in the past nine years.
