The 2013 Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year was named first team All-SLC and All-Louisiana after posting 90 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss, four sacks, one interception, three passes defended and two blocks. He will be one of 70 former members of the Southeastern football program in the Southeastern Athletics Football Hall of Fame.
Hubert recently discussed his time at Southeastern and upcoming induction with LionSports.net.
LionSports.net: What was your reaction when you found out you'd been elected to the Southeastern Athletics Hall of Fame?
Hubert: I was shocked and speechless. I just felt blessed, because I'm the first person in my family to ever receive a huge award like this. To see all my hard work at Southeastern pay off is an honor.
LionSports.net: What were some of your favorite memories of your time at Southeastern?
Hubert: Definitely being a part of the first Southland Conference championship team. I just remember the faces of the fans and the students, as well as my teammates and coaches after all the hard work we
put in. We came together and accomplished one of our huge goals heading into the season.
LionSports.net: Are you able to keep in contact with any of your former teammates?
Hubert: I try to keep in touch with everybody. I still say in contact with Tyler Stoddard, Mo Sutton, Bryan Bennett and Xavier Roberson. And I can't forget all my fellow linebackers – Isiah Corbett, Drew Misita and Kaleb Muse. If I don't get to talk to guys on the phone, I keep up with them through social media.
LionSports.net: How did your time as a Southeastern student-athlete help shape who you are today?
Hubert: Southeastern taught me how to have structure in my life. It also taught me how to be disciplined, which I thank our coaching staff for instilling in that in not only me, but everyone involved in our program. Being consistent and disciplined in life goes a long way.
LionSports.net: Are you able to keep up with the Lions?
Hubert: Definitely. I've been impressed with how the program has continued to grow and improve, as well as all the improvements they keep making on campus. Hammond, America will always be a special place.
LionSports.net: What is life like for you now?
Hubert: Myself and my business partner own our own business (Prince Steel Industrial Shelving and Warehouse Racking Solutions). We provide and install all the shelving in huge warehouses for places like Amazon and Gap.
