Sabadash is the 10th women's soccer student-athlete to earn a spot in the SLU Athletics Hall of Fame and the first goalkeeper inducted since Allison Holladay (2004). The only All-American in program history, she finished as the school's career leader with 401 saves and is second in program history with 29.0 career shutouts.
Sabadash was the goalkeeper for the 2013 and 2015 Southland Conference Tournament champions, earning SLC Tournament MVP honors both seasons after leading the Lady Lions to NCAA Tournament appearances. She earned Louisiana Player of the Year honors in 2015 and SLC Freshman of the Year honors in 2013 in addition to being selected the 2013-14 Southeastern Female Athlete of the Year.
Sabadash recently discussed her time at Southeastern and upcoming induction with LionSports.net.
LionSports.net: What was your reaction when you found out you'd been elected to the Southeastern Athletics Hall of Fame?
Sabadash: I was excited and honored. I considered a pretty big accomplishment to be honored by a Division I university. I was grateful to everybody who selected me to go in to the Hall of Fame.
LionSports.net: What were some of your favorite memories of your time at Southeastern?
Sabadash: Definitely winning the Southland Conference Tournament championship and advancing to the NCAA Tournament twice. I also really bonded with my teammates, especially on road trips. Those girls made my experience as someone coming from Canada. I really felt I had another home here after those four years and I've never left Hammond.
LionSports.net: How did your experience of being a student-athlete shape who you are today?
Sabadash: Being a student-athlete prepares you for the real world. As part of a team, you learn to deal with different personalities. Many of the leadership skills I use today as a project manager for Barriere Construction Company are skills I first learned as a student-athlete.
LionSports.net: What is life like for you now?
Sabadash: I never left Hammond after college because I love it so much here. I have a wife and two dogs and we're working on growing our family down here.
