HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's soccer team opens its home schedule, fans can get their first glimpse of the two-time defending Southland Conference regular season champion Lady Lion volleyball team, while SLU will also host Strawberry Jam and Lionpawlooza during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The Southeastern women's soccer team (0-1) opens the week with its second straight road match, traveling to Troy for a 6 p.m. game Friday. The Lady Lions open their home schedule Sunday, welcoming Jackson State for a 6 p.m. contest in Strawberry Stadium.
The SLU volleyball team will take part in a preseason intersquad scrimmage to prepare for the start of the regular season. The annual Green and Gold Match is set for Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the University Center.
Southeastern will help students and fans gear up for the 2025-26 athletic season with a pair of long-standing annual events this week.
SLU students can enjoy Strawberry Jam Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Strawberry Stadium. Southeastern will once again host Lionoawlooza at Cate Square Saturday at 3 p.m. in conjunction with the Hammond Downtown Development District's Hot August Stroll.
Strawberry Jam is open to Southeastern students only. Lion and Lady Lion student-athletes, the Spirit of the Southland band, as well as the national champion cheerleaders and Lionnette dance team will "Storm the Dorms" at 5:30 p.m. leading students into Strawberry Stadium for the event.
At the Strawberry Jam pep rally, students will hear from the SLU soccer, football and reigning Southland Conference champion indoor volleyball teams along with SLU Student Government Association president Maria Nechaeva, as well as enjoy performances by Southeastern's national champion spirit squads and the Spirit of the Southland band and drumline.
Games and other interactive activities will be available for entertainment. The first 1,000 Southeastern students will receive a free 2025 Gameday in Hammond, America t-shirt and free food will also be served.
The entire community is invited to join the Lions and Lady Lions for Lionpawlooza. The community pep rally opens with performances by the Spirit of the Southland band and spirit squads. Fans will hear from the football and indoor volleyball teams and will have the chance to interact with student-athletes from both teams and the Southeastern spirit squads.
