HAMMOND, La. – The two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball finished No. 9 in the final D1Softball Mid-Major Top 25 released Thursday.
 
In addition to its top-10 finish in the mid-major poll, SLU received votes and finished just outside of the top 25 in the final NFCA/GoRout Division I Top 25 Coaches Poll released Tuesday. The Lady Lions were the second-highest ranked non-P4 team in the final overall national rankings, behind No. 17 Liberty.
 
Southeastern (50-16) was one of seven Division I teams with 50 wins in 2025 and became the fourth team in Southland Conference history to win 50 or more games in a campaign. The Lady Lions won the inaugural SLC Softball Championship Series, topping regular season champion McNeese in a best-of-three series to claim its second straight league tournament title.
 
Making its second straight NCAA regional appearance, Southeastern was sent to the Baton Rouge Regional hosted by LSU. SLU earned a pair of one-run victories over the host and No. 10 national seed Tigers to advance to a regional final for the second straight season.
 
The Lady Lions will officially open their 2026 campaign at the NFCA Leadoff Classic, scheduled for Feb. 5-8 in Clearwater, Florida. SLU's eight-game fall exhibition slate opens with a 10-inning scrimmage versus Pensacola State Sept. 26 at 4:30 p.m. at North Oak Park.
