HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University junior pitcher Macie LaRue was named to the 2025 National Fastpitch Coaching Association (NFCA) All-Gulf Region team, the NFCA announced Thursday.
 
LaRue, a native of Lovelady, Texas, was a third-team selection. She is the eighth player in program history to earn all-region honors, joining SLU Athletics Hall of Famers Katie Lacour Godwin (2015) and Voncia Bookman (1992 and 1993), as well as former Lady Lions Bailey Krolczyk (2023), Jaquelyn Ramon (2019), Ella Manzer (2019), Dee Rancher (1999) and Misty Wagner (1999).
 
LaRue is the first Southeastern pitcher to earn all-region honors, adding the latest accolade to a growing list in her first season after transferring from Bossier Parish Community College. Last month, she was named first team All-Southland Conference and claimed SLC Newcomer of the Year honors. LaRue was also twice named SLC Pitcher of the Week.
 
LaRue has been one of the standouts for a Lady Lion staff that ranks among the Division I leaders in earned run average (2.15, 6^th) and shutouts (17, 5^th). LaRue has a 19-2 record in the circle with a 2.10 ERA, striking out 125 and holding opponents to a .233 batting average in 143.2 innings pitched.
 
LaRue was one of two SLC players on the All-Gulf Region team, along with McNeese junior third baseman Jada Munoz. Florida and Florida State led the way with seven players each on the All-Gulf Region squad.
 
LaRue and Southeastern will open the program's second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament with a 4:30 p.m. contest at No. 10 LSU Friday to open the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional.
