HAMMOND, La. – The two-time reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team will compete in the Baton Rouge Regional, the NCAA announced Sunday evening on the 2025 NCAA Tournament Selection Show.
Southeastern (48-14) will be the No. 4 seed in the regional, hosted by No. 10 national seed LSU (41-14). The Lady Lions will open tournament play versus the Tigers Friday at 4:30 p.m. on SEC Network. The regional will also include UConn (35-17) and Nebraska (39-13) Friday at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
SLU is making its second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. Last spring in the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, Southeastern defeated Clemson twice and advanced to the championship game of the Tuscaloosa Regional.
The Lady Lions earned a spot in the national field with a walk-off win in the deciding game of the best-of-three SLC Championship Series over McNeese. Trailing 4-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, SLU scored three runs in each of the final two innings with
Brilee Ford singling home the game-winning run to give Southeastern the walk-off victory.
The winner of the Baton Rouge Regional will be matched up with the winner of the Knoxville Regional, hosted by No. 7 national seed Tennessee in the best-of-three Super Regionals May 22-25.
