NEW ORLEANS – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's golf team finished first at the Bayou Oaks Match Play Tuesday in City Park.
 
The Lions won the four-team event, defeating Loyola of New Orleans in the opening round, before besting Nicholls in the second round to win the event after the Colonels had defeated host New Orleans,  
 
Southeastern opened the day with a 5-1 victory over Loyola (N.O.). Viggo Hed, Griffin Dorr, Colby Sullivan, Preston Paulk and Ethan Dial all claimed victories for the Lions to help SLU advance to the championship match.
 
In the finals, Dial, Dorr and Landen East each won their individual matchups. Nicholls countered with wins in matches 1 and 3, but Sullivan finished all square with the Colonels' Kyle Traub in Match 4 to help SLU to a 3.5-2.5 victory.
 
SLU will close out its pre-championship slate April 14-15 at the Arkansas State Spring Invitational at Ridgepointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The SLC Championships will run April 21-23 at Comanche Trace in Kerrville, Texas.
