HAMMOND, La. – The reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team will look to maintain its conference lead when second place McNeese visits for a three-game series, sponsored by North Oaks Health System, this week at North Oak Park.
The series between the Lady Lions (31-8, 11-1 SLC) and the visiting Cowgirls (23-16, 9-3 SLC) starts with a 4 p.m. doubleheader Friday at North Oak Park. Friday is Youth Travel Ball Night and young Southeastern fans can wear their team jerseys and stand with the Lady Lions for the national anthem. The series wraps with a noon contest Saturday. The series with the Cowgirls can be seen on ESPN+ and heard online at

Southeastern heads into the series on a season-long nine-game winning streak. SLU outscored Jackson State, 23-0, in a doubleheader sweep Tuesday in its most recent action.
The Lady Lions carry an SLC-best .337 batting average into the series.
Maria Detillier leads the team with a .400 batting average, followed by
Chloe Magee (.393),
Shelby Morris (.388),
Kailey Dixon (.375) and
Shenita Tucker (.357). Detillier leads the conference with 41 RBI, while Magee and Morris are tops on the team with 36 and 35 runs, respectively.
Detillier and
Cydnee Schneider share the team lead with three home runs, while Schneider paces the team with 11 doubles. Southeastern's single-season school record 23 triples leads Division I, as Detillier and
Colleen Kulivan share team-high honors with four apiece.
SLU also continues to lead the nation in stolen bases with 141. Magee has swiped a conference-high 24 bags and is joined in double figures by teammates Morris (22), Tucker (16), Detillier (15),
Brilee Broussard (15), Dixon (12) and Kulivan (10).
After throwing two no-hitters in the past four games, the Southeastern pitching staff has climbed the national rankings with a 1.81 earned run average (3
rd) and 13 shutouts (5
th).
Macie LaRue (12-0, 1.72 ERA),
Hallie Burns (10-3, 1.72 ERA) and
Britney Lewinski (5-4, 2.39 ERA, 3 saves) are the top arms for SLU.
The Lady Lion pitching staff will be facing a McNeese team that heads into the series with a .301 team batting average. Kassidy Chance leads the team with a .396 batting average, while Jada Munoz leads the SLC with nine home runs.
The Cowgirls come to Hammond with a 3.84 team ERA. Maddie Taylor (9-6, 4.24 ERA, 1 save), Kadence Williams (6-6, 3.04 ERA, 2 saves) and Ryann Schexnayder (4-1, 3.48 ERA, 6 saves) have split the majority of the time in the circle for McNeese.
The series with the Cowgirls opens a stretch of nine conference games in nine days for SLU. The Lady Lions will next head to Lamar for a three-game midweek series, which begins Tuesday with a 3 p.m. doubleheader and concludes Wednesday at 2 p.m. The games in Beaumont will be televised on ESPN+.
