NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team finished its 2025 season Thursday afternoon in the Southland Conference Beach Volleyball Championship Tournament, suffering a 3-1 loss to Stephen F. Austin at Privateer Beach.
No. 6 SLU (13-20, 3-5 SLC) ended its run on day two of the tournament against No. 4 SFA (22-13, 5-4 SLC) in an elimination match. The Lady Lions battled early on courts one and three to force the Ladyjacks into three sets, but could seal the deal down the stretch. SFA continued to pull ahead on court four with a 21-14, 21-19 dagger to secure the win.
Aspen Steele and Anne Bruackmiller fueled a run to claim a 21-16, 21-12 victory on court five to help Southeastern avoid the shutout. The pair finished with a historic season and claimed the most wins on court five in program history. The dynamic duo ended the season 15-9 overall and 13-8 on court five. Steele and Brauckmiller won 10 of their last 13 matches as a consistent spark of momentum for SLU this season.
The Lady Lions closed the 2025 season with their second best record in program history. With Coach Blanke at the helm, SLU also tied its 2024 season with the most season wins for the second consecutive year.
