HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball and softball teams will look to continue their winning ways, while the golf, tennis and beach volleyball teams will compete in their final tune-ups before their respective Southland Conference Championships during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
 
As of Sunday, Southeastern ranks fifth in Division I in combined baseball and softball victories with 66. Only Texas (68), Florida State (68), UCLA (67) and Clemson (67) have more combined wins in the two diamond sports than the Lions, who are tied for fifth nationally with LSU.
 
The SLU baseball team (29-7, 14-4 SLC) carries a six-game winning streak into a challenging four-game week at the Pat Kenelly Diamond. No. 23 Southern Miss visits Tuesday for a 6 p.m. contest. Southeastern then welcomes UTRGV for a three-game Southland series. The series opens at 6 p.m. Thursday, continues Friday at 6 p.m. and concludes Saturday at 1 p.m. The Vaqueros are percentage points out of the conference lead, as the Lions, McNeese and HCU are all tied atop of the leaderboard.
 
Young Lion fans can stand with their favorite SLU players for the national anthem for Tuesday and Thursday's games. Local area teachers can receive a discounted ticket rate for Friday's game by presenting their school ID as part of the Teachers in the Bleachers promotion. Fans will have a chance to win prizes by playing Bingo at the Ballpark at Saturday's series finale.
 
The Southeastern softball team (37-11, 17-4 SLC) rides a five-game win streak into this week's action, as the SLC co-leaders visit UIW, which is tied for third and two games out of the conference lead. The Lady Lions' final road series of the regular season opens with a 3 p.m. contest Thursday and concludes with an 11:30 a.m. doubleheader Friday.
 
The Lion golf team will participate in its final tournament before next week's SLC championships. SLU will be in Jonesboro, Arkansas Monday and Tuesday to compete in the Arkansas State Spring Invitational.
 
The Southeastern tennis team (12-7, 3-5 SLC) closes its 2024-25 regular season on the road this week. The Lions will face Northwestern State Monday at 11 a.m. and close out the regular season with a 5 p.m. nonconference match versus Mississippi Valley State Tuesday in Jackson, Mississippi.
 
The SLU beach volleyball team (10-16, 3-5 SLC) will also close out its regular season, competing in the NOLA Classic Friday and Saturday. Southeastern faces host Tulane Friday, before taking on Tarleton State and McNeese Saturday.
