Southeastern defeats McNeese and Spring Hill at home to close out the Lion's Den Invitational

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team claimed two wins Wednesday afternoon against McNeese and Spring Hill to close the Lions' Den Invitational at home.

Southeastern (3-7, 2-1 SLC) opened the tournament with a commanding 4-1 victory over conference rival McNeese (6-4, 1-0 SLC). The Lady Lions gained three wins with a two-set edge over the Cowgirls to secure their second conference victory of the season. Courts one, two, and five dominated to provide a spark of momentum for SLU at home.

The Lady Lions returned to earn a 3-2 victory against Spring Hill (5-5) to close out the day with a two-match winning streak. Southeastern battled in its last match against the Badgers as two matches were decided in the third set. Seniors Ysabella Lockwood and Aspen Steele finished the day undefeated at their respective courts to help SLU secure its third victory of the season.

Makayla Hicks, Aspen Steele, Ysabella Lockwood, and Kennedi Steele were recognized after the victory over McNeese in honor of Senior Day for their contributions to the program.

Southeastern will move to host its third annual Sugar Beach Bash Friday, March 14-15 in Youngsville, La. All matches for the two-day tournament will be played at the Youngsville Sports Complex Sugar Beach Facility.
