SLU Shoots Low Round of Day to Close out Colin Montgomerie Invitational

Strong final round by Sullivan (-2) helps Southeastern move up to fifth in final standings

SUGAR LAND, Texas – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's golf team carded the low round of the day to close out play at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational Tuesday afternoon at Sweetwater Country Club.
 
Southeastern shot four-over par over the final 18 holes, moving up to fifth place in the final team standings (+34). SLU head coach Lawrence Allan was pleased with how his team bounced back after a tough opening day.
 
"We didn't really do anything well yesterday," Allan commented. "I'm really proud with how we responded today. We bounced back well and everyone showed grit and determination to finish strong, so overall we're pleased with our finish, especially considering yesterday's slow start."
 
Colby Sullivan was the top performer for the Lions Tuesday, finishing with a round of 69 (-2) over the final 18 holes. Viggo Hed (+1) and Griffin Dorr (+2) matched their low rounds of the week as well Tuesday.
 
Preston Paulk was the top finisher in the individual standings for the Lions, finishing in a tie for 16th place (+7). Sullivan and Dorr both finished in a tie for 26th (+10), followed by Hed (+11, T30th) and Patrick Blaum (+23, T68th).
 
New Mexico Junior College (+14) won the tournament by two strokes, while NMJC's Elias Pettersson (-3) took home individual medalist honors.
 
Southeastern will return to the course March 10-11, competing in the South Texas Match Play in McAllen, Texas.
