HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team will return to the sand to host its second consecutive home tournament in program history at the Southeastern Beach Volleyball Complex Wednesday afternoon.
SLU (1-7, 1-1 SLC) will welcome two teams to compete in the one-day tournament as it seeks to bounce back in the winning category. Southeastern will face conference rival McNeese (6-2, 1-0 SLC) at 3 p.m. to open the day. The Cowgirls are seeking to extend their five match winning streak while on the road after hosting the Cowgirl Beach Bash. SLU will take on Spring Hill (4-4) at 5 p.m. to close out the week. The Badgers are looking to compound their winning streak after defeating Huntingdon 5-0 at home.
The Lady Lions dropped four matches to close out week two of the season in the Tiger Beach Challenge. Southeastern fell 4-1 to South Florida to begin the day before dropping 3-2 to UT Martin to end day one. SLU returned to the sand falling 4-1 to North Alabama and 5-0 to the host LSU on the road. Makayla Hicks and Mia Sauers gained a big win over the reigning Southland Conference Champion Texas A&M-Corpus Christi while Alexis Logarbo and Mia McKinney secured their third victory of the season at pair one against the Skyhawks.
Wednesday's action will kick off at 1 p.m. as McNeese faces Spring Hill. All matches for the Lions' Den Invitational will be played at the Southeastern Beach Volleyball Complex located in North Oaks Park.
Four Lady Lions will be honored for Senior Day Wednesday afternoon before the 3 p.m. match against McNeese as fans are encouraged to support and celebrate their contributions to the program.
Concluding Wednesday's contests, Southeastern will move to host its third annual Sugar Beach Bash March 14-15 in Youngsville, La. All matches for the two-day tournament will be played at the Youngsville Sports Complex Sugar Beach Facility.
