HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball, softball, track and tennis teams will all be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The Southeastern baseball team (18-5, 7-2 SLC) has a busy week ahead with five games on tap. The Lions open the week with a 6 p.m. contest versus LSU Alexandria Tuesday, before welcoming Mississippi Valley State for a 6 p.m. matchup Wednesday. Fans can enjoy $2 hot dogs at the concession stands for both midweek games at the The Pat and young SLU fans can stand with their favorite Lions during the national anthem.
Wednesday will also feature the Teachers in the Bleachers promotion, as teachers will receive discounted tickets by presenting their school ID. Following the midweek action, Southeastern will head to New Orleans for the annual Ponchartrain Bowl series with UNO. The series with the Privateers opens Friday at 6:30 p.m., continues Saturday at 2 p.m. and concludes Sunday at 1 p.m.
The reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion SLU softball team (26-8, 8-1 SLC) will look to maintain its spot atop the SLC standings this week. The Lady Lions will return home to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for a three-game series at North Oak Park. The series with the Islanders opens up with a 4 p.m. doubleheader Friday and features fireworks following the games. Military personnel will receive free admission by presenting a valid military ID to Saturday's noon series finale.
The Lion and Lady Lion track and field teams will compete in their second outdoor meet of the season this week. Southeastern will be at the Southern Miss Invitational Friday and Saturday in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
The Southeastern tennis team (10-4, 2-3 SLC) will take a break from conference play this week. SLU will face Missouri Sunday at 2 p.m. in Baton Rouge on the LSU campus.
