THIBODAUX, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team closed day two of the Southland Conference Mid-Year Invitational 0-2 Saturday afternoon against Boise State and Stephen F. Austin.
Southeastern (5-13, 3-4 SLC) suffered a tough 5-0 loss to Boise State (10-9, 6-0 SLC) Saturday morning to open the day. SLU's court one and three into tree-sets, but could not evade the shutout as the Broncos extended their six match winning streak.
The Lady Lions returned to the sand and endured a 3-2 loss to Stephen F. Austin (11-9, 3-3 SLC) to close out day two of the tournament. Alexis Logarbo/Mia McKinney dominated on court one to gain a 21-15, 21-15 victory over the Lady Jacks. Aspen Steele/Anne Brauckmiller continued their solid performance at court five with a 21-19, 21-12 win over Stephen F. Austin to provide a spark of momentum and help avoid the shutout. Steele and Brauckmiller lead Southeastern with a 8-7 record this season.
SLU will return to the sand for the final day of the SLC Mid-Year Invitational with a match against San Jose State at 1 p.m. The Lady Lions will move on to face Nicholls at 5 p.m. to close out day three of the tournament.
