HOUSTON, Texas – The reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team will return home Wednesday, hosting ULM for a 5 p.m. contest at North Oak Park.
The game between SLU (22-8) and the visiting Warhawks (22-10) will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard at
www.LionUpRadio.org. Fans will also have the chance to win prizes by playing Bingo at the Ballpark.
Southeastern is currently tied atop the Southland Conference standings after taking two of three at HCU this past weekend. The Lady Lions saw their six-game winning streak snapped with a 6-3 loss in Saturday's series finale.
SLU carries a league-high .325 team batting average into Wednesday's contest.
Maria Detillier leads the roster with a .424 batting average, followed by
Chloe Magee (.407),
Kailey Dixon (.368),
Blair Walsh (.333) and
Shelby Morris (.329). Magee has scored a team-high 25 runs, while Detillier paces the squad with 36 hits, 10 doubles and 32 RBI. Detillier and
Cydnee Schneider share the team lead with two home runs each.
Southeastern leads the nation with 21 triples and 105 stolen bases. Detillier and
Colleen Kulivan share team-high honors with four triples apiece. Magee leads the Southland with 20 stolen bases and is joined among the SLC steal leaders by teammates Morris (14),
Brilee Broussard (12) and
Shenita Tucker (11).
The Southeastern pitching staff is currently 12
th in Division I with a 1.99 team earned run average, while ranking seventh nationally with 10 shutouts. The trio of
Macie LaRue (7-0, 1.80 ERA),
Hallie Burns (8-3, 1.55 ERA) and
Britney Lewinski (3-4, 3.26 ERA, 1 save) are the top arms for the Lady Lions.
SLU will be tasked with facing a ULM lineup that boasts a .334 team batting average. The sister duo of Meagan (.426, 4 HR, 37 RBI) and Morgan Brown (.396, 8 HR, 38 RBI) lead the way at the plate for the high-powered Warhawks.
Six different ULM arms have combined for a 4.86 team ERA. Dakota Lake (7-3, 3.88 ERA, 3 saves), Maddie Nichols (7-3, 3.89 ERA, 1 save) and Victoria Abrams (7-2, 5.02 ERA) have split the majority of the work in the circle for the Warhawks.
Following Wednesday's contest, Southeastern will head to Northwestern State for a three-game league series in Natchitoches. The series, which opens with a 4 p.m. doubleheader Friday and concludes with a noon contest Saturday, can be seen on ESPN+. The winner of the annual softball series between SLU and NSU receives the Cypress Trophy.
