YOUNGSVILLE, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team suffered a 3-1 loss to ULM after a weather delay Saturday afternoon to finish day two of the Sugar Beach Bash at the Youngsville Sports Complex.
Southeastern (4-10, 2-1 SLC) returned to the sand Saturday morning falling to ULM (7-9) after undergoing a weather delay that ended the match early for court three. The Warhawks gained their second win in the tournament over the Lady Lions. ULM came out to a hot start with two matches decided in two sets while Kennedi Steele and Carley Petty battled at court four, but could not seal the deal.
Reigning SLC Pair of the Week Aspen Steele and Anne Brauckmiller claimed a three-match winning streak with a 21-18, 21-16 victory over ULM to help Southeastern evade the shutout. Steele and Brauckmiller stand 5-4 at court five this season after a solid performance in day two of the tournament.
SLU will return to action to participate in the Southland Conference Mid-Year Invitational Friday, March 21-23 in Thibodaux, La. The Lady Lions will face McNeese Friday morning at 9 a.m. to open day one of the invitational before taking on HCU at 1 p.m. and Boise State to close out the day.
