HAMMOND, La. – After helping the reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team to a series sweep to open league play, junior Macie LaRue was named the Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week in an announcement from the league office Tuesday.
 
LaRue earned her second league weekly honor Tuesday. The Lovelady, Texas native previously took home the award Feb. 10.
 
In 13.2 innings of work this past week, LaRue was 2-0 with an 0.00 earned run average, allowing two hits and holding opponents to a .049 batting average. Her best outing of the week came in a 7-2 win over East Texas A&M in the series opener. She was perfect through five innings, holding the visiting Lions to no hits and striking out nine in a dominant outing.
 
LaRue has been tremendous for the Lady Lions in her debut season, carrying a 7-0 record and 1.39 ERA through the first month-plus of 2025. She currently ranks among the SLC leaders in ERA (2^nd), opposing batting average (1^st), innings pitched (3^rd), strikeouts (1^st) and wins (1^st).
 
Southeastern will close out a four-game home stand Tuesday, hosting North Dakota State for a 6 p.m. nonconference contest at North Oak Park. The contest between the Lady Lions (19-7) and the visiting Bison (12-12) will be televised live on ESPN+ and can be heard online at www.LionUpRadio.org. Tuesday is Youth Travel Ball Night, as young Lion fans can wear their team jerseys to the contest and run the bases postgame.
