Southeasern (19-7) welcomes Bison for 6 p.m. nonconference contest Tuesday

HAMMOND, La. – The reigning Southland Conference Tournament champion Southeastern Louisiana University softball team will close out a four-game home stand Tuesday, hosting North Dakota State for a 6 p.m. nonconference contest at North Oak Park.

The contest between the Lady Lions (19-7) and the visiting Bison (12-12) will be televised live on ESPN+ and can be heard online at www.LionUpRadio.org. Tuesday is Youth Travel Ball Night, as young Lion fans can wear their team jerseys to the contest and run the bases postgame.

Southeastern opened Southland Conference play with a three-game series sweep of East Texas A&M. SLU outscored the visiting Lions, 27-4, on the way to opening conference play with a series victory for the seventh straight season.

SLU enters Tuesday's contest with a .320 team batting average. Maria Detillier leads the team with a .411 batting average, followed by Chloe Magee (.365) and Shelby Morris (.361). Detillier tops the team with 30 hits and 24 RBI, while Morris leads the roster with 20 runs scored.

Detillier also paces the squad with 24 RBI and eight doubles. She and Colleen Kulivan share the top spot on the Lady Lions with four triples apiece, as SLU leads Division I with 20 triples this spring. SLU is also second nationally with 93 stolen bases with Magee (17), Morris (11), Shenita Tucker (11) and Brilee Broussard (11) all having swiped double-digit bags.

In the circle, the Southeastern pitching staff's 1.79 team earned run average (10th) and 10 shutouts (4th) both are among the nation's best totals. Macie LaRue (7-0, 1.39 ERA), Hallie Burns (5-2, 1.34 ERA) and Britney Lewinski (3-4, 3.05 ERA, 1 save) have been the top arms on the Lady Lion staff.

NDSU comes to Hammond riding a four-game winning streak. Rylee Henderson tops the Bison with a .362 batting average, while Bella Dean has a team-high five home runs and 20 RBI.

Savy Williams (3-5, 4.86 ERA), Piper Reed (3-2, 4.60 ERA, 1 save), Addie Bowers (2-4, 5.71 ERA, 1 save) and Kaitlyn Dunford (3-0, 3.33 ERA, 2 saves) have all split time in the circle for an NDSU team that has a 4.51 team ERA.

Following Tuesday's contest, SLU will return to conference play, traveling to HCU for a three-game league set. The series opens with a 4 p.m. doubleheader Friday and concludes Saturday at noon. Saturday's series finale will be televised on ESPN+.
