BATON ROUGE, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team suffered two tough losses Saturday afternoon to close day two of the Tiger Beach Challenge at the LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium.
Southeastern (1-7, 1-1 SLC) began the day with a 4-1 loss to North Alabama (4-4, 0-1). The Lions extended their three-match winning streak with three matches secured with a two-set advantage. Ysabella Lockwood and Maggie Paiva claimed a three-set 22-20, 25-27, 15-12 victory at pair four to aid in averting the shutout on the road.
The Lady Lions returned to the sand to close out the tournament with a tough 5-0 sweep against the host LSU (9-1) later in the afternoon. Southeastern's pair five forced the Tigers into three sets, but could not avoid the shutout in the end.
SLU will return home to host its second annual tournament in Hammond, America Wednesday, March 5. The Lady Lions will face McNeese at 1 p.m. before competing against Spring Hill at 5 p.m. All matches will be played at Southeastern Beach Volleyball Complex.
