HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team travels to Baton Rouge, La. to compete in the Tiger Beach Challenge Thursday, Feb. 28 through Saturday, March 1 at the LSU Beach Volleyball Stadium.
Southeastern (1-3, 1-1 SLC) will open serve at 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon against UT Martin to open day one of the two-day tournament. UT Martin looks to open its 2025 spring season on the road as the Skyhawks will also take on LSU, South Florida, and ULM. The Lady Lions will return to the sand Saturday to face the host LSU (4-1) at 2:15 p.m. to cap the weekend. LSU gained a three-game winning streak in its season opener in the Beach Burg Invitational with victories over North Alabama, Southern Miss, and Spring Hill.
SLU closed out its season opener in the Tulane Invitational for the two-day tournament in New Orleans, La. Southeastern started day one with a loss to Tulane before securing its first conference victory over New Orleans. The Lady Lions suffered two tough losses against the reigning Southland Conference champion Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and UAB.
Makayla Hicks and
Mia Sauers battled against the Islanders with the longest match of the day to help SLU avoid the shutout with a 41-39, 18-21, 15-11 victory.
After Saturday's match, the Lady Lions will return to Hammond, America to host its second annual home tournament March 5. Southeastern will host McNeese at 1 p.m. before facing Spring Hill at 5 p.m. to close out the Lions' Den Invitational.
