SLU Travels to Southern

Southeastern (6-1) looks to extend five-match winning streak

HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team will close out the pre-Southland Conference portion of its 2024-25 schedule Tuesday, when it travels to Southern for a 2 p.m. match.
 
Southeastern (6-1) comes into Tuesday's match with the Jaguars (0-2) riding a five-match winning streak. The Lions are coming off a 4-1 victory over Southern Miss last Friday.
 
Aitana Darder and Leana Gomez both have a team-best 5-1 singles record this spring. Taisia Bolsova (5-2) and Panatchakorn Suanarsa (5-2) share the team's singles win lead, while Claudia Di Leonardo is right behind the leaders with a 4-3 mark.
 
In doubles play, Suanarsa and Bente Bierma have teamed for five straight wins on the No. 1 court and have a 6-1 record. Darder and Gomez enters Tuesday's match with a 4-3 record on court 2.
 
Southern will be looking for its first win of the spring. The Jaguars fell to UL Lafayette and McNeese to start the season. Southeastern handed SU a 5-2 loss last February in Hammond.
 
Following Tuesday's match, SLU heads to UTRGV to open SLC play Saturday at 1 p.m. in Edinburg, Texas.
