NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University beach volleyball team dropped a pair of matches Saturday afternoon to close out day two of the Tulane Invitational at White Sands.
 
Southeastern (1-3, 1-1 SLC) started the day with a 4-1 loss to the reigning Southland Conference champions Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (2-2, 1-0 SLC). The Islanders gained momentum early against the Lady Lions with 3-0 sweep, but Makayla Hicks/Mia Sauers at pair three battled to secure a 41-39, 18-21, 15-11 victory. Hicks/Sauers posted the longest match of the day in the hard-fought win over Texas A&M-Corpus to avoid the sweep.
 
SLU returned to the sand with a tough 5-0 loss to UAB (2-2, 1-0) to close out the weekend. Alexis Logarbo/Mia Mckinney battled at pair one to try and build some momentum for Southeastern, but could not secure the win down the wire. Pair four Gabriela Hrubanova and Maggie Paiva also fought to produce a spark for the Lady Lions, forcing a three-set match, but fell in the end by only two points.

The Lady Lions will look to bounce back Friday, Feb. 28 through March 1 in the Tiger Beach Challenge in Baton Rouge, La. Southeastern will face UT Martin Friday at 3:30 p.m. before competing against the host LSU at 2:15 p.m. Saturday.
