Webb, Brown, Asemota Earn Gold at LSU Twilight

SLU sets 11 personal bests in final tuneup before SLC championship meet

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University men's and women's track and field teams saw six student-athletes medal and 11 student-athletes set personal bests at the LSU Twilight Friday at the Carl Maddox Field House.

Terrell Webb won his fourth gold medal of the season in the men's weight throw, winning the event with a throw of 70 feet, seven inches (21.51 m). Donroy Brown won the men's shot put with a toss of 57 feet, 6.5 inches (17.54 m) and his season-best showing moved him to second in the Southland Conference rankings.

On the women's side, Marvellous Asemota claimed gold in the 60 meters with a winning time of 7.55 seconds, just shy of her school-record performances of 7.46 earlier this month.

Other podium performances included Josh-Ty Brown's third-place showing in the men's shot put, as he set a new personal best and moved to sixth on the SLC season list (16.49 m). Euan Lagan also finished third in the men's 3,000 meters with a time of 8:34.07, while Jordyn Taylor was third in the women's long jump with a season-best performance of 5.29 meters.

Jayden Jackson posted a personal best in the women's weight throw (15.26 m) and a season best in the shot put (13.44 m) – both good for ninth this season in the Southland.

Other Lions and Lady Lions setting personal bests included Onyah Favour (women's 60 meters), Micah Miller (men's weight throw), Ian McAlpine (men's long jump and 400 meters), Isabella Latkovich (women's mile run), Alba Hansson (women's shot put), Tanner Salsman (men's mile run) and Ava Pitarro (women's 3,000 meters).

SLU will be back in action at the Southland Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, set for March 2-3 at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama.
