Game One – Southeastern 5, UTSA 0
Southeastern jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning against UTSA starter Madison Collins (0-1). Tucker led off the inning with a single and eventually scored on an RBI single by
Maria Detillier to give SLU the early 1-0 advantage.
The Lady Lions padded their lead in the bottom of the second inning. RBI singles by
Shelby Morris and Tucker, as well as a UTSA error helped Southeastern extend its lead to 4-0.
Southeastern closed out its scoring in the bottom of the third inning. Kulivan singled home Broussard to give SLU a 5-0 lead.
That cushion was more than enough for LaRue, who continued her dominant start to 2025 by allowing just one Roadrunner to advance to scoring position in her six shutout innings. SLU reliever
Hallie Burns walked the first two batters she faced in the seventh, but struck out the next three UTSA batters to secure the shutout win.
Game Two – Southeastern 12, Mississippi Valley State 0 (5 Innings)
Armed with a lineup that featured eight new starters as compared to the previous game, SLU jumped on top versus MVSU starter Ashtyn Clark (0-1) in the bottom of the first inning. Broussard set the tone early, leading off the game with a line shot into the right field corner, as the speedster raced home with an inside-the-park home run.
Bailey and Walsh singled home runs later in the frame, before an RBI triple by
Mykail Lusco gave Southeastern a 4-0 lead.
The Lady Lions doubled their advantage in the bottom of the second inning. Ford singled home the inning's first run, before Walsh drove in two more with a single of her own.
Cydnee Schneider plated Walsh with an RBI double to put SLU up, 8-0.
Ford singled home the first SLU run of the bottom of the third inning, before Walsh tripled home a pair to put the Lady Lions up, 11-0.
Ariel Gomez drove in Lusco with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth inning to close out SLU's scoring.
Bailey struck out seven Delta Devilettes in three innings of work to earn the win.
