HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women's tennis team wrapped up the fall portion of its 2025-26 schedule with an impressive performance at the George E. Fourmaux Fed Cup Invitational this weekend at the Southeastern Tennis Complex.
 
Playing in a field that included Southeastern, Lamar, LSU Alexandria, Louisiana Christian and Dillard, SLU was the lone team to finish undefeated in the tournament, which was played under Fed Cup rules (four doubles, one singles). The tournament's namesake is Fourmaux, a former Lion assistant who lost his battle with cancer in 2016.
 
"This was a great weekend for tennis and we want to thank the teams, fans and canine friends who joined us for the tournament to remember George," Southeastern head tennis coach Jason Hayes commented. "We have a young team full of talent and fight. There are so many positives to pull from this fall season and our team has enjoyed competing."
 
The Lions combined for a 17-2 record in singles play this weekend. The freshmen trio of Adriana Tirado, Mariam Tetradze and Mariam Makashvili each finished 3-0. Taisia Bolsova and Aitana Darder were both 2-0 in singles play.
 
Bolsova and Darder also finished 2-0 together in doubles play, while Panatchakorn Suanarsa and Makashvili also earned two doubles wins for SLU, which finished 6-3 at the tournament in doubles action.
 
Southeastern will open the spring portion of its schedule Jan. 30 at LSU Alexandria.
